Concrete Masonry Units have come a long way since the term “cinder block” was coined and there are many aesthetic options for both structural CMU and non-structural CMU veneers. Jandris Block has been manufacturing Architectural CMU since the 1970’s beginning with split face CMU, ground face followed in the early 1990s, and we began polishing CMU in 2009.
Most architectural finishes expose the beauty of local aggregates and there’s a huge variety of aggregate colors available to us here in the Northeast. Deep blacks, grey speckled granites, stones that range from peachy to brown and others that range from pink to purplish.
Split face units give a rugged “rock-like” feel while ground face CMU have a smooth, matte finish exposing aggregates. Polished CMU gives a contemporary sleek look and weathered textured polished CMU has a subtle, almost leathery feel to it. We also offer more a traditional look with our smooth face and retro units like ribbed, fluted and prism block.
